Board of Regents Watch

- Late July - Regents had a closed door executive meeting to discuss whether the compensation for Chancellor Harvey Perlman was sufficient, supposedly because his retirement is expected and the level of compensation must be attractive to new candidates.

Anyone ready to take bets on when Harvey retires?

- June 13 - Board had their meeting on tuition increases and discussed many other topics. However, it's good to see that the tuition increase which affects some students as much as $30.00 per credit hour was debated on for less than a half hour or so according to sources at the meeting.

Emily Zimmer, the UNL Student Regent, along with all the other student regents must not have been bothered much by consistent six percent per year increases in student tuition because they all voted "aye" for the increase.

Guess when you are getting your tuition paid for (as student regents do) a tuition increase isn't that big of a deal, huh? It could be worse, the student regent at UNL could be given a university paid blackberry like UNO's student body president/student regent.
